Today in Heritage History, April 17, 1964, the first game is played at Shea Stadium in New York. The Mets lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3. It took two full days to complete the game as a result of about 100 discoveries by players, of the unidentified remains of Italian men (barely) protruding through the outfield.

LOL italian remains with a bit or pasta sauce.
Always thought it was the Meadowlands… been to Shea on countless occasions while living in NYC. Only deteriorating bodies I spied were the people down from the Bronx…

They’re still finding bodies. This time they are in Citi Field and the bodies wear Mets uniforms. No Jimmy Hoffa though, he sleeps with the fishes in Long Island Sound.
Forghettabowdit….
Hoffa still lives !
What ever happened to Jimmy Hoffa?
He’s there..or at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. The joke in New York is that everytime a Jet spikes a ball at home in the end zone, Jimmy Hoffa yells “ouch”.
