History, July 7, 1977, 12,000 Mexican Police occupy the university in Mexico City. They refused to leave the campus until university students agreed to give them bribes and kick-backs (like everyone else in Mexico City) if they expected to be able to keep their personal drugs on campus.
Today in Heritage History, July 7, 1988, Stevie Wonder announces that he will run for mayor of Detroit in 1992. At his first press conference, a journalist asked Wonder if he was joking, and why anyone would want to run for mayor of Detroit asking, “Have you seen this (fucking) city lately”?
Mexico is such a disaster with narco terror war. We are in Iraq and Afgh and there is a war that needs our attention right next to Texas.
Had to research a paper on Mexican politics. It was like walking through a maze where around every corner there was a new surprise. I figure your 1977 post is correct.
