Today in Heritage History, July 23, 1827, Francis Lieber opens the first public swim pool in the U.S. and (notably) prior to the invention of the Life Guard. Later that same day in heritage history, Mrs. Monahan invents the famous response to her (problematic) son Mikey’s question, asking why she just threw him into the deep-end of the pool; “Because I was ahhhhh,-just-trying-to-teach-you-how-to-swim”.
Haha…yes…lots of pool lies. I don’t know if my parents did it or not, but thank God I don’t remember being thrown in a pool before I knew how to swim…
Quickly followed by the second lie, that nobody’s peeing in the pool?
