Today in Heritage History, August 20, 1000, King Stephen I of Hungary founds the state and declares it to be a Christian Kingdom. This followed a protracted and brutal uprising by the country’s Christians angered by the Episcopalian Queen Isadora who mocked them with; “Let them eat fish goulash…”.
