Today in Heritage History 1901, Marconi sends his first transcontinental radio signal and broadcast. Despite the fact that Marconi knew there was a crew of 15 burly Italian men at the receiving end of his transmission, for unknown reasons that would haunt him with vicious rumors for his remaining years, Marconi chose to transmit a softly performed and romantically serenaded version of, “I’m in the Mood for Love”.
