Today in Heritage History, March 3, 1690, the first paper money in America is issued in the colony of Massachusetts. Politicians from both major political parties celebrate that kick-backs and pay-offs will now be much easier to hide in their pockets rather than gold, livestock, and women. Republicans in Massachusetts quickly pass a bill in the State Legislature allowing only the top 1% of all residents in the state (“job creators” *), to have any at all.
