Today in Heritage History, May 29, 1912, fifteen young women are fired from Curtis Publishing Company (original publishers of the Ladies Home Journal and the Saturday Evening Post) for doing the Turkey Trot (dance), even though they were on their lunch break. The dance was banned by the Vatican, not because it was considered immoral, but because it infringed on copyrights to their own private version of the dance; The Altar Boy Trot.
