Today in Heritage History, June 16, 1988, to complete a Guinness world record, a Santa Barbara, California team of 32 divers began cycling underwater on a standard tricycle to complete 116.66 miles in 75 hours and 20 minutes. Local California authorities became suspicious regarding the contents of the diver’s air tanks when the team celebrated their accomplishment eating 250 lbs. of raw fish…while still under water, at the finish line.
Today in Heritage History, June 16, 1960, the movie Psycho premieres in New York City. Two months after the opening, the New York City Subway Riders Transit Authority offered free guarded showers for any female rider, that hadn’t showered for the previous two months.
