Today in Heritage History, July 20, 2009, Taco Bell officially retires its successful mascot/branding character, Gidget (Yo Quiero Taco Bell!) Chipperton. Gidget served as the Taco Bell mascot from February of 1994 until July of 2009. Following her retirement Gidget struggled for years with multiple addictions to frutista freeze, chalupas, and gorditas. After completing her fifth re-hab at Betty Ford, and appearing to finally get her life and career back on track, Gidget ironically disappeared following an audition as the new trademark character for an all-you-can eat Korean Buffet.
