Today in Heritage History, July 24, 1847, Brigham Young and his Mormon followers arrive in Salt Lake City. The trip took Young twice as long as he had planned and anticipated. Upon first seeing the Great Salt Lake, Young knelt in prayer, thanking God that he had finally arrived. He promised the Lord that he would never leave Salt Lake City, but if he did, it would be with 25 new wives all with bigger bladders.
