Today in Heritage History, November 10, 1903, Mary Anderson patents the windshield wiper. Anderson experimented with several applications for her invention before finally settling on auto windshields. It was originally test-marketed as the “Tushy Wiper”, and was mounted to the inside of a toilet seat. She abandoned the application choosing car windshields only after multiple near-fatalities with hemorrhoid sufferers.

P.S. Happy 237th Birthday today to all my fellow United States Marines. A special Birthday wish to those who are actively serving today and have taken the call to continue the spirit, the fight, and the traditions. Semper Fidelis! Please donate.

Today in Heritage History, November 8, 1519, in Mexico, Montezuma meets with Hernando Cortez for the first time. In a gesture of good will they agree that they will allow Cortez’ Taco Bell’s and Montezumas Del Taco’s to co-exist peacefully in the same Aztec cities. They could not however reach an agreement on a great recipe for a Chalupa Supreme, or non-competitive drive-through hours.
